Flowing across your senses like a tiny dose of sugar, M Class , the new 5 song EP from The Bobbleheads will delight, but won’t make you diabetic. Starting off with the story-song “Rose I’m Sorry”, John reflects on his time as cemetery worker. All good musicians have had some sort of day job they draw inspiration from and this is no different. The title track “M-Class” draws it’s inspiration literally from their surrounding. From their garage practice space, they would set off the alarm of the neighbors Mercedes Benz SUV, the M-Class. The song takes it key and tempo from the alarm. Rounding out the album are songs that lyrically reflect John’s elementary school music teaching and personal life. “If You Broke the Old One” is his advice to his students to grab another instrument in the middle of class if they broke it and keep playing. The show must go on. “Time” and “Are you Coming Now” are both solid album tracks that have melodies that will stick to your head like gum from a movie theater floor.
Recorded by fan and friend Chris Xefos (King Missile, Moth Wranglers) in San Francisco.
The Bobbleheads are an indie “sunshine pop” band, based in San Francisco, CA who have been recording and performing since 2003. Consisting of John Ashfield (guitar/vocals), Phil Bulan (drums, vocals), Eugene Koh (bass), their sound is best described as innocently optimistic guitar-infused rock with melodies and choruses that will stay with you for days. The jangly 12-string Rickenbacker guitars, harmonizing vocals and short, 3-minute format keep the music light, bright and strong. According to The Bobbleheads, the world isn’t such a bad place after all.
In 2005 the band’s CD Automatic Fun won the Out Music Award for Best New Recording.

The Bobbleheads are an indie pop-rock band, formed in 2003 in San Francisco, CA. Their sound is best described as upbeat, but sly, hard-hitting pop with melodies that stay with you for days. But don’t confuse catchy with kitchy, they turn a tad serious on their new album, Myths and Fables. ... more
